After about six weeks of enjoying Severna Park, MD where Ann has a home, completing a few projects around the house and with our rig, we have finally hit the road. Immediate destination: Louisville, KY. Bob, one of Ann’s paddling buddies, lives there.

We found Louisville to be a pretty big town (Over 1 million in the metro area) with a small town feel. Here we met with some Southern hospitality.
Bob, who Ann has known for 7 years or so and who I met in Flamingo this past winter, welcomed us both as old friends.
He lives in a duplex apartment created from a wonderful old building from the 1930s.

We arrived about 7:30 pm yesterday and parked in a tight spot on the alley behind the house.

We immediately headed out for a Mexican restaurant we passed on the way in not too far from his house. Bob had not been. “For many years it was a sports bar with twenty or more motorcycles regularly parked out front,” he explained. “I hadn’t noticed that it had changed.”

Sol Azteca turned out to be the best Mexican food I’ve had outside of California. WooHoo! What a find! Too much food! Too much grease, but at least it’s vegetable oil.
Next morning we arose to find Bob prepared a wonderful breakfast of strawberries, peaches, grapefruit, oatmeal bread, spice cake, and coffee. We were still a bit full from the Sol Azteca, but what the heck, fresh fruit diced finely.

After a bit of yakking, Bob’s son Nicholas came over. Sadly, no pictures of Nick. Happily, time for more eating! This time the trough was Old Spaghetti Factory in downtown Louisville.

Nicholas is quite a fellow, it turns out. Our lunch conversation revealed that he had just repaired his wife's car. In the process he had removed over 150 parts and managed to get them all back in again! Not only that, he used to work making Ford Explorers at Ford’s Louisville plant.
What did he do for Ford? Mostly install sunroofs. We didn’t know that when we mentioned that one of Patience’ [our trailer] roof vents leaked. “I can fix that. It will be easy.” After a quick trip to an RV parts store a few miles away for the necessary parts, we met at Nick’s house. In about half an hour he had the vent replaced. Once again, WooHoo! Thank goodness for Bob and Nick and Southern hospitality!
